Spendthrift
A budgeting app where money shared with other people is handled inside the budget, not in a second app. Plan it. Spend it. Split it.
Local first. Your records live on your own phone as a file, and the app works with no signal. Nothing enters your budget unless you add it or confirm it.
What we are building
- Envelopes, plans and categories you name and colour, plus a category the app works out for you and you can change at any time.
- Shared money inside the same budget: groups, splits and settling. Every shared entry is a claim until you confirm it, and the whole group can see the ledger.
- Bank texts and phone shortcuts that stay off until you turn them on, read on the phone by keyword rules and better with AI.
- Reports and a clear log of where your money went, by category, so you can see where you drifted and correct course.
- Built to last: an update can never break what you have recorded.
How AI is used
On the phone, AI works things out and never recommends. It can sort a transaction into a category, help you set a goal, adjust a plan against your progress, and answer questions about your own money, such as when you could afford something, by showing the arithmetic and what follows from it. It never tells you what to do or gives financial advice. Reports and logs give you the chance to make better decisions and get more from your money, and the decisions stay yours. If you connect your own AI account, you are the one sending, the app says so first, and you choose whether it runs by itself or asks each time. The app works without any of it.
